Karo Bio was founded in the late 1980s with a focus on drug discovery for nuclear receptors and a project portfolio with innovative project was formed. For several of these projects partnerships with global pharmaceutical companies were entered into. These partnerships were often established in early development stages and both parties cooperated on drug discovery, while the pharmaceutical company was responsible for further development.
In the 2000s, Karo Bio has changed the business model to develop products more before entering partnerships. Karo Bio can also bring niche products to the market in order to create a positive cash flow. Currently, Karo Bio has a project portfolio consisting of two clinical and four preclinical projects and a number of exploratory activities. >The key development stages of Karo Bio is described further in the year end reports.
