Karo Bio was founded in the late eighties with a focus on drug discovery targeting nuclear receptors and a project pipeline with innovative and competitive projects was established. Several of these projects were partnered with global pharmaceutical companies at an early stage of development. In these partnerships the parties jointly collaborated in the drug discovery phase whereas the pharmaceutical partner took responsibility for further development to the market.

In recent years Karo Bio has evolved into a discovery and development company that apart from early stage partnering also brings certain projects into clinical proof of concept before partnering. The new business model also includes development of niche products to the market for the purpose of creating a long term positive cash flow. Currently Karo Bio has a strong pipeline of two clinical, four preclinical and numerous explorative projects.
