Karo Bio was founded in 1987 and focused on nuclear receptor drug discovery. Karo Bio entered into several screening collaborations with international pharmaceutical companies.
In the middle of the 90's Karo Bio and its scientific collaborators made several break-through discoveries in the field of nuclear receptors.
In the fall of 1997, Karo Bio entered its first strategic drug discovery collaborations with Merck & Co., Inc. and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
In the spring of 1998 Karo Bio went public on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.
Another strategic collaboration with Abbott Laboratories was initiated in 2000 and was followed by the collaboration with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in 2001.
