RORgamma
In 2010, Karo Bio launched a project on ROR-gamma. New research reveals that the nuclear receptor ROR-gamma may play an important role in the development of autoimmune disease. Targeting ROR-gamma may be a novel concept for a potential new treatment option for autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis and multiple sclerosis (MS).
In December 2011, Karo Bio entered into a research collaboration agreement with Pfizer Inc., to discover and develop novel small molecule ROR-gamma modulators for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. Under the agreement, Pfizer will provide full funding for the research costs and have the exclusive right to market any products that may be developed as a result of the collaboration. Karo Bio will receive upfront and milestone payments in addition to potential royalty fees.
